I havent been on for a little while but thought I would pay sepcial tribute to the squad for saturdays performance, and result. The preperation for Saturdays game couldnt have gone any worse with 5 pull outs on the day, to top of several players unavailability.
Having had time to review the game I think all 12 lads were excellent, in partiulcar the back four with Richy May making his first start of the season and Lindsay switching to left back with no issue. I lost count of the amount of headers Leggy and teezer won. Mark and Davey clicked again, Westy got MOM, Tony and TJ were constant threats, Paul and Dan made debuts in hard conditions. As mentioned previously in Normans match report Rob's save was top class which kept us another clean sheet.
The progress we have made since the turn of the year is extremely encouraging and even more so from my point of view as a lot of these players were written off by a number of critics, some before kicking a ball saying they were not good enough to play in the Premier Division. Just ask the likes of Blyth Town, Murton, Shankhouse (x2), Ashington, Killingworth and Rutherford how good these players have been as we have taken 17 point from them in the last 9 games.
We still have a lot of work to do to stay in this division, myself and grant know that, as do the players. Saturday was personal for a lot of players, followers and people involved with both clubs. Now its important we build on that and make sure we are in this division next season to show further progress.
Training this week is Tuesday and wednesday to ensure everyone gets a good workout.
