From the off both teams produced an aggressive high tempo performance with both sides looking for a breakthrough. In truth while the high tempo performance was thrilling to watch the quality defending by both sides meant that clear chances were few.
The Phoenix contingent probably felt that they had more and better chances, the best two of which was an attempt that didn't have enough pace on it allowing a Bentley player to get back and clear off the line and an effort, where Billy Godbert hit the "sweet spot", on the volley, only for his effort to fly just wide of the far post.
For Bentley, their robust centre forward wasn't able to get high enough to meet a cross resulting in his headed attempt looping high over the bar.
Bentley however did break the deadlock deep into added time at the end of the first half when Jordan Snodin's effort found the back of the net. As the half time whistle blew immediately after the restart Bentley went in to the break with the advantage.
The second period continued as the first had and with both teams playing a high tempo game, mistakes, though rare, were made and from one Phoenix's Ash O'Brien drew the home side level
Bentley's keeper in failing to clear his lines effectively presented O'Brien with his second goal in as many games.Still plenty of time to play and still an entertaining game to witness but as previously, good chances were, in the main rare, that is until the last ten minutes or so. A needlessly conceded free kick, a handful of yards outside the Bentley box saw Josh Bennett step up and strike the ball with such venom as it evaded the mass of bodies lined up before him before finding the bottom corner to trigger delight in the home side's ranks. eighty four minutes and the home side in front.
Eighty seven minutes and quality pressing by sub Hassan Daud saw the player "skin" a Bentley defender, race to the bye line and put the ball "on a plate" for Ash O'Brien to score his second.
Bentley were still contributing to an excellent encounter and only a real top drawer save by debutant keeper, Dillon Thorpe, denied them a way back in to the game as he rose well to his right and palmed the ball away from the top corner of his goal.
The dying minutes saw Phoenix cap off an excellent afternoon as once again Daud turned the Bentley full back, raced to the bye line, this time his high cross was met by the head of fellow substitute Keegan Hepplestone for the fourth Phoenix goal of the afternoon.
