Pickering travelled the relatively short distance to Thirsk for their latest game against Northallerton 2s.
The visitors got off to their customary slow start, spending the first 10 minutes pinned into their own half. They finally started to get a foothold in the game, winning a number of short corners but failing to cash in.
With twenty minutes gone, the home side took the lead, a long ball in behind the left hand side of the defence being chased down and crossed to the back post where the striker was presented with a tap in.
Virtually from the restart Pickering won a series of Short corners, the third of which saw Anna Hubery’s ball in to top D fired against the post by Lauren Turnbull, the rebound then struck home by Hubery to make it 1-1.
The visitors then took the lead, Eva Featherstone firing the ball across the D from the right, finding Ellie Allan in front of goal to deflect it home.
The second half saw the home side pilling on the pressure, a run of seven short corners being repelled by the steadfast defence and in particular keeper Sarah Wilkinson who pulled off a series of outstanding saves.
A long ball out of defence found Featherstone who drove on and pulled the ball back to top D for Turnbull to strike in a shot with Miki Crossley narrowly missing the deflection at the back post.
Minutes later, Featherstone chased down another long ball down the centre, finding herself one on one with the keeper who did well to stop Eva’s low strike for goal.
Just when it looked like the points were in the bag , 20 seconds remaining, the Umpire blew, awarding a Short Corner for “obstruction outside the D “ and then the final whistle blew.
With all 10 Northallerton players circling the D, Pickering managed to block the initial strike but the numbers game meant the rebound was put in making the final score 2-2.
Another descent display from the ladies, despite the slow start, with several players worthy of mention, striker Eva Featherstone in only her third senior game, defender Eleanor Maw, also her third senior game but player of the match with 10 votes went to Sarah Wilkinson for her outstanding display in goal.
