On what was a drab looking afternoon at the campus, Plymouth Marjon turned in an impressive display to dispatch of a Bude side who travelled to Plymouth after the loss of their top goal scorer which hit them hard evidently. Marjon started brightly with Dan Thompson missing a great opportunity to put the home side ahead on 25 minutes—blazing over when through on goal. The home side went ahead on 32 minutes when a great ball in from the right from captain Adam Smietanka was well finished by Chay Henry. That only gave the home side confidence and they began to dominate the ball up until half time.
The second half continued in the same vein with Dan Thompson missing another chance before Hayden Greening slammed the home side into a 2 goal lead. A corner from the right found Dan Yeoman whose 3 attempted shots were blocked before the ball fell nicely for debutant Greening to crash home from 12 yards. Substitute Jake Taylor-Lewis added a third finishing well on the counter attack from a superb Smietanka pass. A superb strike briefly put the away side back in the game on 75 minutes before Mike Axworthy was sent off for 2 bookable offences. Overall a good day at the office on what looked a drab day weather wise before kick off to get the boys in blue off the mark in their first season in the South West Peninsula league.
