Club Director Adam Waller has given an interview with the club after our strong start to the season.
Adam discussed the current situation with the squad, speaking about the change in attitude at Bar and the impact of that on our campaign so far.
Here is the full interview with Adam:
On the mentality at the club:
“The club has transitioned, we have gone from ‘little old Potters Bar’ to a team everyone doesn’t want to play.
“We have gone from a ‘give it a go’ style club, to a side that deserves its place in this league.”
There is no doubt that we have shown our worth since the appointment of Sammy Moore as Manager back in January.
We sit top of the Isthmian Premier League, and following a late goal from Lewis Manor in midweek, the Scholars have also progressed into the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
There is plenty of reason to be positive at the Lantern Stadium, which Adam says is part of a shift in mentality at the club, as we attempt to become a side that asserts itself in the league.
On the coaching staff:
“The level at the club has been raised and that shows with the appointment of Sammy. He’s given us that belief and we have given him our loyalty and every tool we can to allow him to be successful.
“Darren Beale’s experience brings a calming influence to the dressing room, and Lee Protheroe has a great coaching style and has the qualifications to push us further.
“The three have an amazing bond and dynamic, they just click.”
Moore knows how to manage a winning side, having had successful spells with Leatherhead, Concord Rangers and Hemel Hempstead before joining us.
He has been a revelation at the club, and Bar are in a very strong position early on, despite having issues with injuries to goalkeepers.
Beale adds the tactical knowhow and experience as Moore’s assistant, having worked with him several times before.
The addition of Protheroe to the coaching staff at the start of the season has added something new to the way the players are coached, with new ideas and a highly motivated new member on the sidelines and at training working with the players, providing a great addition to the team.
As a result, we have managed to perform superbly well defensively so far, conceding just three goals in the league so far, and scoring eight.
The team have found ways to win in difficult positions also, with late victories against Herne Bay, Enfield Town and Aveley in the FA Cup.
It is an exciting time for us, and Moore and his staff have been at the heart of the efforts which have put us in the positive position we find ourselves in.
On the future at the Lantern Stadium:
“We believe we can win every game, we have the mentality and belief, so we can progress that way. We have to stay humble and grounded and take it three points at a time.
“It’s not about money, it’s about pushing our traditions and methods to the next level.”
It is only early on in the season, and we have a long way to go before the season’s end, meaning it will be a case of making sure we can remain consistent with our performances until April.
That said, promising signs are certainly present for Bar, and the new approach both on and off the pitch have had a positive impact on the results, which we hope will continue beyond our good start to the campaign.
