Today marks 140 years since the first game of football played by the club formally known as Prescot FC later Prescot Town and eventually Prescot Cables on 28th November 1884.

Prescot took on a team from St Helens named St Thomas' in a game played at the cricket ground on Warrington Road; 140 years ago today - the visitors prevailing 1-3, and the rest as they say is history!
