On Sunday morning all three of Priory’s Under 7 teams made the short visit to Rolls Royce at Hucknall to take part in the YEL Spring Festival, all the team represented the club with pride and performed well, the Green squad relished the opportunity of playing teams from higher divisions putting in some spirited performances whilst the Hoops continued to improve each week, however the White squad will remember the event for a long time after winning the competition (photo attached). The Whites breezed through their group games without conceding a goal and then progressed into the final against the host Rolls Royce team, despite going behind to an early goal the young players kept their composure and scored twice to take the title.
It was nearly a similar story on Saturday morning for the Under 8 Saturday squad, they, like the Under 7 White’s, qualified from their group without conceding, survived the drama of a penalty shoot-out win over Wollaton Hall in the quarter final with Charlie Walker making a fantastic save to send them through to the semi final where, unfortunately, they ran out of steam and lost to a strong Woodhouse Colts team. In other mini-soccer action, the Under 8 Whites claimed their best win of the season seeing off Stapleford Villa 13-2, Leonardo Lopinto-Formosa scoring five of the goals, duly assisted by Brooklyn Reed, Jeevan Mann and Jacob King who all scored a brace, the Under 8 Greens game against Team DNF was postponed.
In Under 9’s action, the Hoops finish the season on a high after a 3-0 win at home to Rolls Merlin, the Green squad saw off Lowdham Colts 5-2 at Kimberley Leisure Centre and the Whites lost away at Ravenshead Reds.
Despite struggling for the majority of the season the Under 11 Whites everything came good on Saturday for them, with only 8 players available due to holidays they made the trip to fourth placed Edwalton Cavaliers and returned with all three points after an incredible 8-0 win, every player deserves credit for an outstanding results, goals scored by Scott Howarth (4) and Kyle Kelvey and Harrison Reed scoring twice, man of the match awarded to Nathan Longden. The Sunday Under 12 Black squad bounced back after defeat last week with a just as impressive 9-1 away win at Team DNF Red , once again Liam Garner amongst the goals with an impressive hat-trick, Brandon Chadwick winning the man of the match award, in the reverse game for The Hoops and Team DNF White, Team DNF claimed some revenge with a 4-1 win, Stanley Walker claiming the Hoops consolation strike.
The Under 13’s warmed up for their League Cup Semi final with a moral boosting draw at championship contenders Quarrydale United who dropped their first points of the season, Kai Boulty and the impressive Jimmy Foster claiming the goals, in Under 14 action the White squad emphatically finished their first season in Division One with a respectable mid-table place, a fine run of 5 wins out of the last six claims establishing their place. The Under 14 Green play their penultimate game on Sunday
In Youth League action, a typical end of season end to end game saw the Under 17’s lose 7-3 to Aspley Park, James Horton scoring two of the goals and finally the Senior squad finished their campaign with a moral boosting 5-4 away win at White Hart FC, Dale Chapman once again in the goals with a four goal haul
