Priory Celtic FC – Round Up 11.3.12

A busy weekend’s action for all of Priory’s teams kicked off on Saturday morning with a local derby U9 League Cup quarter final for the Whites against Nuthall FC, in a tense game that didn’t have too many chances Nuthall claimed the only goal of the game in the first half, though Priory tried they where unable to break down the resolute Nuthall defence, the Under 9 Greens where in league action and, after a couple of good results, came back to earth with a bump after losing 4-0 at league leaders FC Cavaliers. In friendly action the Under 7’s fresh from their exploits at Nottingham Forest’s Academy had Eddie Wylie and Joel Rigley claim the award for the Greens whilst the Whites nominated the whole team after a great performance. Kyle Kelvey and Tom Ellis won the awards for the Under 8’s. A solitary strike from Robbie Horsley was enough to give the Under 11 Whites victory at Bingham Town, the result leaves the Whites in fourth place with promotion to the first division still achievable.

In the girls section the Under 16’s returned back to the top of the table with a fine 3-0 away win at West Bridgford, Lauren Turner (penalty), Mollie Bexon and Anya Norrie all on the score-sheet, the Under 11 Girls lost at Nottingham Forest though the Under 12’s had a moral boosting 3-0 against Ilkeston Girls AFC

The Under 10’s entertained Gotham Rangers in the quarter final of the Under 10 Sunday Cup, unfortunately for the boys Gotham snatched victory with the only shot of the game, it was goals galore for both the Under 11 Greens and the Under 14’s – The greens won 9-1 against Sherwood FC four goals for Christopher Huskinson, two for Corey Nelson, Cory Wrenn, Joshua Wright and Dylan George all poaching one whilst the Under 14’s went one better by beating Sneinton Town 10-3, Perry Dermot-Manahan (2), Luke Manning (2), Lewis Pynegar (3), Rob Wallis (2) and Jake Pearce all on the score sheet. The Under 13’s lost 5-3 at Ruddington though the Under 12’s bounced back from last weeks disappointment by beating Gotham 2-0, Nathanial Appiah and Jake Shilton scoring for Priory. In youth league action Michael Thomas scored four and Jake Parr three for the Under 17’s as they brushed a side Bramcote Park Rangers 7-2 though the Under 15’s lost 3-0 at home to Aslockton, Alex Neilson and Tom Bacon claiming the man of the match awards
