Pulborough 1st team commenced their London South East 3 campaign with a solid 34-0 win over Uckfield RFC, in the process scoring 5 tries and taking away all 5 points on offer.
After Uckfield winning the toss they elected to run down the slope with a strong breeze at there backs applying early pressure. It was 30 or so minutes before Pulborough finally took full control and with a cross kick from Frazer which found Eddie Miller out on the flank to dot down in the corner. With the wind blowing a hoolie it was always going to be a difficult day for the kickers with the conversion attempt going wide. 4 minutes later Pulborough once again worked their way back up the paddock and after some outstanding play saw Ollie Combes Tennant who was having a outstanding game going in under the posts with Frazer Oliphant - Hope adding the extras.
From the kickoff and Pulborough well and truly in full swing found themselves in front of the posts being awarded a penalty and Frazer making the sensible decision, kicked the 3 points on offer right on the forty minute mark taking the lead into the halftime break 15-0.
As for the second half...it was always going to be a difficult afternoon for Uckfield as Pulborough laid on 3 tries, 2 of them to hooker Max Ravaudet who played his best game since joining the club this season.
All round solid performance with strong defence and a massive improvement with Pulborough's discipline which has been a issue in their last few outings.
Cheers Dean
