We were blessed today with a fabulous turnout of well over 40 children and a few of those were joining us for the first time today. I hope the new children enjoy their time learning about and playing rugby, it is lovely to meet them.

Everyone was full of enthusiasm as we began with some old favourites, “Tiger Tails” and “Union Jacks” in the Warm Up. Before the children moved to their smaller groups a new game of “Lifeboats” was played. The game works on communication, speed and agility and within just a couple of minutes of it finishing I was asked by several children if we could play it again! Yes, I promise we will put it in the training plan for next week! It was great to see everyone being able to learn about the game of rugby and having so much fun.

We occasionally move children between groups to play with different children and to work on different skills, well done to all of them. It can be quite difficult to embrace change but they all coped very well.

The Blues improved their passing of the ball to a player who was in a space by practising this skill with a new game of “Number Tag”. They then transferred these newly honed skills to a match which made the whole game flow well.

Both the Reds and the Yellows were also developing their match skills. The Yellows were concentrating on passing the ball once tagged and when they received the ball to keep moving. The Reds practiced the attacking arrow formation and then transferred it extremely well to their match.

We were very happy to award well earned trophies to Eddie Ragg, William Rogers and Ben Chaloner. Other players that showed a great level of concentration and skill were Harvey - Ray Strugnell, Jenna Furse-Cope, Charles Walls, Sebastian Darmon and Fergus Hammond.

Well done to everybody and we are looking forward to seeing you next week.
