We are a group of local players of mixed skill levels, fitness levels, age and gender who like to just "get out and play" twice a week. We pay Monday 8pm in Ratoath and Friday 8pm in Drumree.
Some of us are retired contact players, some coach the underage teams, some play other sports, some don't, some are just mammies & daddies of underage players. Some never saw a rugby ball before but like the idea of getting out and having a game and a laugh, and an occasional refreshment.

What is TAG Rugby?
Tag Rugby is a non-contact form of rugby played by mixed teams, containing male and female players. The non-contact form of “tagging” entails the defender removing a 'Tag' strip adhered by a Velcro patch on the shorts of the attacking player/s. The non-contact nature of Tag allows Men and Women of all ages to participate at a level suitable to their ability and experience.
Each team has six 'Tags’ (removal of Tag strip from attacking player instead of a tackle) to score. If there is no score, possession is then handed over to the opposition team who will then in turn play a 'set-of-six' and so on.
Trys are scored the very same way as in regular rugby ie. touching down the ball with full control on or over the try line. Also as with regular rugby, the normal laws for a pass having to be behind or lateral all apply.
How many on a Tag Team?
The recommended squad size for a Tag team is 12 players. During a game, each team must have no more than seven players on the field of play at any one time. Of the seven players onfield, THREE must be female.
I've never played rugby before can I still Play?
Of course you can! There is NO CONTACT in Tag. It is easy to pick up as well as great fun.
What do I need to be able to play?
To start with, the only truly compulsory accessory required is a pair of Approved Tag Rugby shorts. These must be shorts (made by any manufacturer) that bear NO pockets and sport a velcro patch on each hip for a Tag to be attached upon. These shorts are available from http://www.tagrugbyshop.com/
Come and join us for fun activity and fitness throughout the 12 months of the year. Wrap up warm in the winter - we play hail, rain or shine. Any age over 18.
This year's tag coordinator is Damien McCarthy.
