"Be Hard, Trust, Get around your mates!"

As pristine a day as you can get kicked off proceedings for round 3 and the Rebs second match of the year. With a notable 17 Rebs out, the roster took on some changes seeing three first-gamers (Rhys, Mathis and Dan), a shift for Kid into the Midfield and a return to action for the Physio's wet dream Bridgey. With all these changes plus coming off the back of a tough loss in round one, there was a mix of nerves and determination swirling around Humber.

From the first bounce, the hunger was clear from the boys winning the first few clearances with some handy taps from rookie ruckman Pat. Our mids linked up well together to create space & ball movement, seeing an early 2 goals from Kid, clearly forgetting his new found role in the Mids.

The Demons had their few chances in their forward half snuffed out by some nice covering defence across the field. An extremely efficient first quarter from the boys, with a clean 5 goals to get the game underway. Plenty of action for our forwards, with contributions from Jordy, Jello and Dan for his first goal for the club.
Q1 - Rebs 5.0.30 / Demons 0.1.1

As the second quarter kicked off, an early inside 50 for the Dees and a questionable holding the ball whistle swallowed, resulting in a scrappy goal 30 seconds in. This would be the last score the Dee's would see from here on out. The counter-punches came in quickly and the Rebels kept scoreboard pressure up with another 4 goals in the second, including an absolute ripper from 45 on the boundary from Dreamy. Another notable mention was a delicious scrambling attempt mid-air from first-gamer Mathis, scoring his first goal for the club in spectacular fashion.
Q2 - Rebs 9.5.59 / Demons 1.1.7

With the first half out of the way, the message from coach Udai was clear; keep the momentum up and put in the miles to prepare for our tougher matchups to come. Some positional changes were made, in particular testing Pete up in the forwards which yielded some immediate traction. Petey the PT must have been taking notes from his forward assignments, making relentless leads and was rewarded a number of times with marks inside 50. If we can just get him to be more selfish and take a shot at goal the league will be on notice.
Q3 - Rebs 12.9.81 / Demons 1.1.7

The game continued to roll in the final quarter with the most dominant stretch of the game yet. Mids dominated the ball and any counters were sent back quickly into the forward 50. Ezy was granted access to the promised land up forward and landed a set shot through the big ones to celebrate his birthday. Plenty of pressure throughout the game coming from Hunter and the fourth was no exception; laying tackles, creating contests and moving the ball well. Huge hit coming at the late stages of the game from Sammy, sending a poor bloke off the pitch with a bit more than a bruised ego.

Big score coming from the Rebs through the fourth, but some inaccuracy at goal after the first quarter prevented what could have been a much worse outcome for the Dees. Great win and good momentum going into Ottawa next weekend.
Final Score - Rebs 17.15.118 / Demons 1.1.7
