Gusty Grand-River Guelph Gargoyles goofed and gaffed in a frenzied footy fracas against the rampaging relentless Rebels*

The Rebels jumped back on the winners circle after losing the previous round against the Eagles. The Rebels had to grind out a hard fought victory in steamy conditions. The details of the match are shaky at best as this writer tries to recall what happened in a match 12 days ago. Fortunately, I wrote down some memorable moments after the game on the notes section on my phone, here goes…

It’s always a tough and hard fought match against Guelph and this game was no exception, the boys had to chip away all game with the Guelph lads trying to hold on for the duration of the day. Browny was absolutely unstoppable up forward and had the potential for a true OAFL bag (footy term, look it up). He finished the day with 4 goals 5 behinds and the Guelph defence could not keep up with him. He was supported immensely by the Rebels second favourite Brit, Jello. Jello was clunking every mark at the top of the 50 all day, almost as if his parents made the special trip down to watch him but ended up watching the England v Switzerland game instead. 

Rebels have picked up another handy player in Hendo as he was able to showcase his smooth and silky skills across the forward line and midfield. Another great debut!

Stokesy didn’t stop running along the wing all day and continued his great 2024!

Some ill discipline cost the Rebels consecutive 50s which lead to one of Guelph’s only goals of the day. 

Some highlight plays of the day included an interception at the halfback line with a quick kick into the middle to Pat which lead to one of Browny’s goals as well as a hard chase down tackle by Jedi with a switch quick to Uds and another goal to Browndog.

I wrote down Mahi in the notes section too, so I’m guessing he had a dominant game running around everywhere - good stuff Mahi!
