'The Redbridge Mens 1s had a mixed season after narrowly missing out on
promotion during the 2010/11 season. After a positive start with some wins under their belt a lot of the teams in the league seemed to find their groove, and the season was a tough one to see out this year.
A few of the ones from last season had moved on to pastures new, however
the team welcomed some newcomers in the form of Kirky, Adi, AJ and DJ, plus this season saw some of the younger players step up where they could and put in a good showing. These new players and the new team taking shape took some time to form, and this season was very much about learning how many of the guys gelled together, in the process chalking up some fantastic wins against some of the leagues stronger teams, but the lack of experience did mean we struggled against some of the leagues well drilled sides.
The run in secured Reds a mid table spot, which has allowed the team to
settle ready for next season to push on again and try to get themselves
back up the league and into Div 2S - hopefully next season proving third
time lucky for Redbridge.
The 1s player of the season had to be a joint award this year, with Matt
Kirk winning for his consistently strong performances up front and scoring goals, and also to Elliot Berkley for his commitment to the team and to training, alongside solid performances all season long.
Redbridge mens 1st will welcome a new captain and setup next season, with the addition of a team manager, an exciting time to be part of the clubs first team as the new season approaches'
