A break from the league programme today as we faced BEADS in the McMillan Bowl first round. A bright start from us enjoying a lot of early posession. BEADS are a good side and certainly weren't prepared to lie down and began to come in to the game. However on 9 minutes a brilliant strike from 20 yards from JAMIE GRAHAM who hit the ball on the bounce and it rocketed in to the roof of the net.
The lead was short lived as once again we made a defensive error and gifted them an equalizer a minute later. The game was evenly balanced for a time as both sides tried to establish themselves. In the 25th minute GAV JACKSON burst through from midfield, and with options either side of him, opted to fire a rocket shot in to the top corner leaving the BEADS keeper with no chance.
In the 34th minute we increased the lead when JAMIE GRAHAM weaved through the BEADS defence to grab his second with a great individual goal.
We had given ourselves a great platform to take in to the second half but we knew the next goal in the game would be vital.

We once again started the second half of a game in great style winning a free kick on the edge of the box. JAMIE GRAHAM stepped up to curl the ball over the wall and in to the net.
At this point in the game we seemed to take our foot off the gas and became a bit complacent which was a recipe for disaster and we duly conceded a penalty in the 58th minute, which they scored and we were in danger of letting them back in to the game.
We made a couple of tactical changes and steadied the ship as BEADS had made changes at half time which had given them an extra man in midfield and they were still dangerous as the game drew to a close.
A good performance that maintains our 100% start and we now focus back on the league as we travel to Redcar Town in the league on Wednesday.

Cracking result on Saturday 29/8/15 home v BEADS (Cup) a fine 4-2 win.
8th min good start by the home team and an excellent finish by Jamie G. 1 – 0.
1 – 1, lack of concentration in the ‘Newmarket’ defence gifted the away team an equaliser (9mins)
Shortly after Gav J scored after some great work by Ryan J to retrieve the ball, after what appeared a lost cause.
Jamie G made it 3 – 1, straight through the middle after a 1-2 with Skelly. (32 mins)
After 35 mins a defence splitting pass by Jamie gave the AWAY team a run on our goal, but Dale did well to ‘snuff’ the chance out.
We were improving as the game went on, but half time came too quick.
HALF TIME 3 – 1.
Breaking news....Baden arrived at half time. (He was there during the week as well but I forgot to mention that.) Rayzo continued in the 2nd half trying to get the lads ‘turned on’. He does not understand the difference between ‘switched on’ and ‘turned on’.)
Second half...again we started the better, and on 47 mins Jamie G made it 4 – 1 with a superb 20 yard free kick after Skelly had been brought down. (Skelly showing a lot of experience in keeping the ball and winning free kicks.)
51 mins Skell missed a chance at the back post when the ball got caught under his foot. Then Dale with a poor kick gave BEADS a chance, but the ball was blasted over. The game was not over as BEADS came back at us.
Skell received a yellow (60 mins) then BEADS won a penalty, Sam T holding apparently, the kick was placed straight down the middle of the goal = 4 – 2.
Dale then saved from a corner, which was then scrambled clear as BEADS tried to get back into the game.
LEE B came on for Sam, who was also given a yellow card for kicking the ball away as he left the pitch!!
70 mins, and Hodgey came on for Skelly, after 79 mins a great cross by Steve B was headed goalwards, but BEADS keeper saved well, then on 86 mins Ryan J’s shot/cross was deflected goalwards until another good save by the BEADS keeper. Another great cross by Steve B shortly after, but no-one had the legs to keep up with him.
Final score = 4 – 2. MOM = Jamie G.
