Boro Rangers were the visitors for todays semi final of the Macmillan Bowl. We played well first half and matched them competetivly and probably had the edge. A good goal on 14 minutes from KYRAN CLARK gave us the lead. We conceded a soft equalizer when were very naieve from a free kick and caught cold as they took it quickly. Never the less it was a good first half performance.
The second half performance did live up to the expectations of the first half. We allowed them too much possesion and didnt retain the ball well enough ourselves. We conceded a second when we allowed Lockwood too much room. Compounded shortly afterwardswhen we conceded a penalty. We did rally late in the game and pulled one back with 6 minutes remaining through KYRAN CLARK. We had a couple of late chances to level but couldn't take them.

Saturday 02/04/2016. Home v Boro Rangers. (Semi final.)
Wet day with a slight breeze.
Lost 3 – 2. A game in which we saw two sides to Redcar Newmarket, the 1st half where the team fought for everything and showed some real grit and determination, the 2nd half where we just seemed to bow down to Rangers, not all I may add, but enough of the team to make a difference. We all know that Rangers are a physical team, who like to be in players ears and faces, and it seemed that some allowed it to get to them in the second half, as it appears that the ref did also. A number of the Boro players swore at the ref, more than once, but when we say something, action is taken!!! Something wrong there!!

The game started with Rangers taking the game to the home team and the defence had to be on their mettle from the start. However, Newmarket weathered the start, and slowly got into the game.
18mins, and ‘Man of the Match’ for Newmarket, KC, put the home team into a 1 – 0 lead. A ball played over the top to the right saw KC run onto the ball as Rangers were calling for offside, KC into the box and shot across the away keeper, who although he got a hand to it was not able to keep it out.
The game saw both teams creating chances, Rangers were pressing hard.
20 mins and KC through again, only a last ditch tackle prevented a certain goal, the resulting corner was cleared.
24 mins. A dangerous cross from the right saw Dan Mac having to clear, the corner was then cleared off the Newmarket line. Dale saving the follow up shot.
31 mins. A free kick from 25 yards was comfortably saved by Dale.
32 mins and another Rangers free kick, Newmarket switched off, setting the wall up the kick was taken quickly into the unguarded side of the goal........a harsh lesson, we all know to have someone stand on the ball!!......1 – 1.
42 mins. Gav yellow carded for his first tackle....seems that you can always have your elbows raised when jumping for the ball, or swear at the ref throughout, or threaten other players and you get away with it. Sorry, only if you’re from a Boro team. Part of the ref’s brief obviously.
Half time – 1 each. We were in the game, had battled hard, stood up to Rangers, the second half we changed.
Rangers started the second half with a fast tempo, on 49 mins. only a great save by Dale at his near post prevented us from going behind, the shot was hard and going into the top corner. Dale catching the resulting corner.
53 mins. And an excellent block by ‘Biz’ inside the box prevented a Rangers goal. It was all Rangers as Newmarket were chasing the game.
58 mins. 2 – 1 to Rangers, the away forward allowed too much space at the edge of our box, his well hit shot placed to Dale’s right.
60mins. Liam J cleared from inside our 6 yard box as the defence were all over, Rangers getting a number of corners in succession.
66mins. Rangers awarded a penalty as Luke Wallace caught the attacker inside the box, Liam J booked for dissent, with the assistance of the ‘gob shite’ on the side line prompting the ref.....3 – 1.
72 mins. KC through on goal; muscled out inside the box.
78 mins. Newmarket subs....Russ on for Dan, Ryan J for Hodgey. Sam not bothering!!
85 mins. Newmarket back in it, 3 – 2. KC scoring after a Ryan J cross to the back post was parried by the Rangers keeper, straight to KC who blasted the ball into the roof of the net.
The game was now wide open, Rangers through on goal, Dale doing well to save.....Rangers were now worried and ended up taking the ball into the corners and running the time down.
End result. 3 – 2 to Rangers and the ref. Liam J red carded after the final whistle.
We need to toughen up at times lads, sometimes we are too nice. I understand Gav’s frustration at the end, and what he was saying in the changing rooms. Don’t let the season fizzle away, another semi next Saturday.....you can do it.
Good to see a better turn out back at the pub.
