Games against Football Futures are always a bit special. In 2013 Eagles won a classic 4 2 at Futures, Futures were the only team to beat Eagles in the League during the whole of 2014 and last year Eagles beat Futures after penalties to lift the League Trophy.

Champions elect Futures were unbeaten in 40 league games and had already won the away fixture 5 0 a month ago.

In the first half Eagles defended brilliantly and were level at the break. Five minutes after the break Kyle Simmons calmly netted a penalty to put Eagles ahead. The game was played at an electric pace with Reegan Edwards twice going close to adding a second and Hugh McGowan pulling off a blinding dave to tip a 20 yard drive over the bar.

Eagles defended brilliantly until just 3 minutes from time when Futures levelled from a corner. The Eagles players were upset as keeper McGowan appeared to be fouled but the ref waved claims away.

The entire team were outstanding today and their progress in recent weeks reflects a growing team spirit and some great training sessions.

At the end 4 players were separated by just one vote for the Man Of The Match and Cluggy walked off with the silverware.

Futures were crowned champions after the game today and deserve every credit for working their way up the CWYFL since 2011.
