Fine weather and a big effort from many people created a great party atmosphere as the three major sports came together to celebrate the improvements made to the club.
Any visitor to the club, and there were many on the day, could not fail to be impressed by the vibe as non stop sporting action was on display over 4 pitches.
The hockey guests camping out on the bottom field added to the party atmosphere as Steve Dawes was remembered, whilst the cricket match proved good watching for the less energetic.
On the Rugby side Redditch hosted its first Summer Rugby Sevens with 8 teams competing.
Stars of the show were Redditch's "Original Rangers" wearing the traditional pink jerseys of the Exiles. They defied all odds defeating both Droitwich and Worcester in their pool games. The Worcester game was one of the highlights of the tournament with the Brothers Barrow providing much entertainment.
This brought "The Originals" into the Cup Semi-finals where they met a young, fit, committed Moseley team with a predictable result against the eventual tournament winners.
The Official Rangers did not fare so well and went into the Plate semis, where they were not successful, so the long awaited clash between the two Redditch teams did not eventuate.
However, bragging rights went to the "Originals".
A big thank you to Pete Hunt and Zoe for the organisation and to Garry Mills for the beautiful presentation of the grounds.
