Redditch travel to Gosport on Saturday

Redditch United boss, Tim Harris, is urging his side to be more ruthless in front of goal after spurning several chances during the defeat to Bishop’s Stortford – starting with the Evo-Stik South – Premier away trip to Gosport Borough on Saturday (3pm KO).

Despite playing well at Woodside Park for an hour, Harris’ side failed to convert their opportunities and were made to rue those misses with The Blues scoring three unanswered goals in the second half.

Admittedly, it was another frustrating day on The Reds’ travels; however, Harris and his side are eager to put the defeat to Bishop’s Stortford behind them, put in a complete performance against bottom-of-the-table side, Gosport, and return from the south coast with three points.

On Gosport, Harris said Saturday’s opponents, despite only two league victories so far this season, were “better than their league record showed” and “displayed their fighting spirit and qualities” when they visited The TRICO on the 20th February, where The Reds went behind before hitting back and were eventual 4-2 victors.

He added: “No matter the opponent, we have to earn the right to win football matches by playing good football. We will treat this fixture with the respect it deserves and put in a performance.”

Harris will not be able to call upon Josh Ezewele and Jed Davies, though, after they returned to their parent clubs, AFC Fylde and Tamworth, respectively; however, Derby County loanee, Jordan Mills, is available again after suspension, while new signing, Montel Gibson, will be in the squad after completing his move.

Formerly of Notts County, Gibson scored 15 goals in 28 starts for Ilkeston Town before leaving the club earlier this week. The Reds have moved quickly to secure his signature, and Harris is hoping the 20-year-old can carry on his goalscoring form between now and the end of the season.

Louis Ezewele remains doubtful, but he is not far from returning to full fitness.
