Paul Goodman was recognised for his tireless efforts in developing cricket at Renfrew Cricket Club and across the county as a whole, at a star studded awards ceremony last Thursday (2 December 2010) night at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel.

Rangers’ assistant manager Ally McCoist was joined by tycoon Michelle Mone to present the Local Hero award to Paul, at the Scottish Sports Awards, sponsored by the Sunday Mail and Sport Scotland. Paul devotes a huge amount of his spare time to work on the coaching and training of the clubs junior and youth players for his beloved Renfrew Cricket Club. He also finds time to deal with the maintenance of the ground and pitch preparation at Renfrew, and he has been largely responsible for the dramatic improvement in the quality of the pitches and the continued growth of the clubs’ youth section.

Paul said “This award is fantastic. It is giving the whole sport recognition, not just me. Hopefully, this will encourage more kids to come down to the club and try cricket.” Everyone at Renfrew Cricket Club is delighted that Paul’s hard work and devotion has been recognised with this thoroughly deserved award.
