Missing a few key players through work and injury, Town chopped and changed their team to face an unknown Albion side. After a choppy first 10 minutes which saw Albion on top, Town quickly settled and played some excellent passing football through the middle of park, with Burton firing over from close range when one-on-one with the 'keeper.

Albion took the lead against the run of play through a penalty in the first half, but Town continued to battle until the break and into the second half, when excellent work by Wood allowed Burton to slot into an open net from 10 yards.

Albion then pegged town back immediately, but Retford battled on until the final whistle, changing formation and pushing players forward in the dying minutes to no avail.
