Trevor makes his debut and Ell's brother Sam cover our injuries; Fish hits the bar

Our injury crisis deepened this morning as big Rich had to pull out due to Covid. Ollie was away and Lyndon was in Leeds and Graham Begg volunteered to wear the gloves. He raided his chamber of secrets in the loft to find an old Riverside top suitable to wear in goal, as Rich's kit was in Eltham due to his house move failing this weekend. John Roan was chaotic as usual, with parking at a premium near the clubhouse and we arrived with 10 minutes to spare.
We have a great record against Viagra SV in recent years but with our injury weakened team there was still a chance we could lose. Additionally, our travelling support was somewhat depleted by Stevie B returning to work for the first time since his injury before Christmas. Steve W and Neil Bantock (complete with wooden chair), and Els Dad and Joe came along to enjoy the sunshine.
Fish lined us up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation whilst we waited for Trevor to come along and wear the Riverside top for the first time (rather than having the top smashing into him with Martin and Gav inside it). We started well, and Kris got our first with a crisp volley off a long Jamie pass. Kris was doing us a favour too, the biggest game in recent Bromley history going on at Wembley this afternoon meaning he had to go straight after the game (facilitated by Danny H doing a lot of running around pre match) to his Cat 1 seats as one of the Bromley old guard. Kris was on fire, scoring another goal soon after, rounding the keeper from my tight through ball. Jamie added a third with a long shot that surprised the keeper. Inter were having their own chances, Simon their striker was really fast and unusually was able to outpace Martin and Ells up front to get one back. Trevor achieved his lifetime ambition and scored our fourth soon afterwards from inside the box. Fair play to Viagra, they kept going and Graham had to make some good saves, but couldn't stop their second from an intercepted pass in our box to go in 4-2.
The second half started similarly, with us moving the ball and creating chances, and the odd long ball from Viagra causing us problems. A move back and forth across the pitch ended with Fish hitting a shot from midfield, soaring into the top right corner only to hit the bar and come down for Kris to get the rebound. Viagra got another from a long ball but then Fish put the game to bed with a fantastic toe-poked pass, which evaded the Viagra defence like a greased piglet, to put Jamie in for his second and our sixth. It was all us then, and Elliot scored a scissor kick di canio style goal from a long ball before Kris added his fourth to leave us with an 8-3 win.
