On a perfect day for a game of football on a very poor pitch, Hearts were away in the cup against Orange Soccer Trevor Sinclair’s academy side. Hearts started the game on the back foot and were struggling to find their feet in the game, mainly due to poor decision making and playing DIY football. Orange soccer were seeing a lot of the ball and playing the channels well in the early stages and had a few chances in the first ten minutes without testing Liam Dawson. It took the boys around 15 minutes to finally get possession of the ball and get at the opposition and when they did Greg Dyl and Hamilton Rescova were causing the opposition some problems at the back. Hearts took the lead with around 25 minutes gone when from an offside given, Liam Dawson sent the ball forward into the box which Greg Dyl set in the air to Hamilton who volleyed into the net. Orange Soccer 0 Hearts 1.
Hearts went on in search of a second and were on top but still not working their pressing game at all.The performance was flat but they were ahead. A defensive mistake brought about the equaliser for orange soccer to make it 1-1. Then in the closing stages of the first half Orange soccer was awarded a free kick and they played a long ball over the top that beat everyone Liam Dawson came racing out and they slotted past him and only for a goal line clearance from Sam Huszar sent the teams in level at the break.
Half Time 1-1
The second half started and both teams saw plenty of the ball, each trying to break down their opponent. Chances for both teams came and went and with around 10 minutes gone in the second half orange soccer took the lead after another mistake from a goal kick. This saw them race through and finish to make it 2-1. Morgan Worrad was introduced as Jo weja made way. Hearts pressed and pressed for the opportunities to come when Aaron Longden won the ball on the edge of his own 18 yard box and ran through to the edge of the opposing 18 yard box to lay the ball to Steve Arnold who shot and hit the side netting. In the dying minutes of the game a penalty was awarded to orange soccer and they finished to settle the game at 3-1.
Hearts never gave up however the performance was not good enough on the day and did not warrant a win and the long unbeaten run was brought to and end.
Not following the plan that has served them so well all season and a lack of desire on the day led to their downfall. Hearts move on now still undefeated in the league, which resumes with a home game on the 2nd November v Isports Academy
