Rockleaze Rangers Football Club's 'Inclusive' group offers weekly football coaching for children aged 8-16 years with a physical, sensory or learning disability. The sessions take place on Wednesday evenings between 6.30pm and 7.30pm at Hillside Gardens Sports Ground in Frenchay and are aimed at children who would struggle to cope in a mainstream football group.
There are 2-3 coaches in attendance at each session but parents/carers are asked to stay with their children and are encouraged to participate if they are able. These sessions offer the children the opportunity to increase their confidence, be active and to participate socially in a group or individual activity.
There are currently around 15 players who attend regularly and we now have the space and resources to grow the size of the group and provide more boys and girls with the chance to play and have fun. If you are reading this and you know of a child who might benefit from coming along to our sessions next season, get in touch with us by email to inclusive@rockleazerangers.com.
The sessions take place on a 4G football pitch. Players are required to wear football boots and shinpads. This activity is currently free of charge.
If you are another club reading this and already run a similar group or you would like some information on how to start a similar group, get in touch. There aren't many of these groups in the Bristol area which means that children with these health issues currently find it difficult to play football.
Let's try and change that!
