Rossington Hornets RUFC was set up in the year 2005, a newly formed club under the banner of the Rossington Hornets which was traditionally known as a Rugby league club, as it was recognised that there were quite a few local people who would still like the opportunity to represent their club.

Rossington Hornets RUFC identified a gap for local rugby enthusiasts in Rossington so the juniors was set up to play and be able to compete.

The juniors had a hugely successful start to their season until they lost to a strong side from Harrogate in a Yorkshire cup game.

During the same season the seniors were slowing building up with help from Luke Taylor (England Deaf Rugby Union) with his coaching services and Steve Bowers (Army Cadets) who helped recruit players.

The senior side was finally set up as a squad and played two fixtures as novices against Adwick Le Street, losing twice in hard fought games.
