On a surprisingly warm Autumn afternoon Rosyth welcomed unbeaten Lochgelly Albert to Recreation Park on Saturday. The 'Rec were looking to recover from back to back home defeats against Pumpherston and Kirriemuir, whilst the visitors hoped to continue their bright start to the season.

The opening exchanges were fairly guarded from both sides, although the Albert forced a series of early corners. John McDiarmid collected a booking for the home side in the ninth minute for dissent but then almost redeemed himself a minute later, firing over on the break. At the other end Craig Paterson's shot was blocked for a corner, whilst Steven Page's cross was headed over by Scott Gibson. On 28 minutes John Duffy became the second Rosyth player in the referee's notebook for a late challenge and then three minutes later McDiarmid's attempted cross was well gathered by Lee Wilson in the Lochgelly goal. Lewis Elder should have done much better for the Albert when he blazed wide from a good position in the 37th minute and Martin Rennie was also guilty of putting far too much curl on his 41st minute free-kick. Two minutes from the interval Andrew Watt missed the target for Lochgelly from point blank range but as the action then switched to the other end of the park Rosyth produced the best move of the game so far when a flowing move ended with Ciaran Chalmers shot cannoning off the crossbar to safety. Half-Time 0-0

The second half started with Ballie Kay seeing his dangerous cross well dug out by Wilson in the visitors goal, whilst two minutes later his counterpart in the 'Rec goal Mark Rowbotham needed to produce a fine one handed save to deny Watt. Rowbotham again denied the same player in the 55th minute and on the break two minutes later McDiarmid's crossed to Chalmers at the far post but he couldn't quite direct his header. The deadlock was broken in the 65th minute when Paterson, who had been at the heart of most of the visitors creativity, drilled the ball home from close range. Just as the 'Rec were recovering from that blow they were quickly dealt another as Elder doubled the scoreline within three minutes with a tap-in after good work by substitute Jack Wilson. Gregg Robertson became the latest home player to be booked on 71 minutes whilst substitute Gregg Page was unlucky when his well struck effort flashed across the face of Wilson's goal as he looked to reduce the deficit.

That was the closest that Rosyth were to come and the game ended on something of a sour note as Scott Morrison, having collected an 88th minute booking, picked up another one a minute later following an altercation in the penalty area and so was sent from the field. It all seemed to sum up another frustrating day at the office for Rosyth. Full-Time 0-2
