Rugeley Comeback brought to an end Due to Injuries

Rugeley Welcomed Wheaton Aston& Penkridge to Hagley Fields this weekend on a glorious sunny Saturday afternoon with an early start so the game didn’t clash with the weekends internationals.
The game started with Wheaton Aston taking full control from the onset there pack proving to be far superior to the home teams.
After 20 minutes W.A. & P broke clear and their fly half made an impressive 25 metre run scoring a try to the dismay of the Rugeley Forwards, bringing the score to 0 – 5 to the visitors.
At the restart once again the visiting Fly Half took control and ran from the centre line to score an unstoppable try but once again the conversion was missed. 0 – 10 to the visitors.
At this point the Rugeley forwards were in disarray and the visitors were taking full control making the home side look completely out played.
With the Rugeley team in complete melt down the visitors once again took control and within 30 minutes were 17 points ahead.
At the start of the second period and a stern talking to by the captain of the day Martin De Ridder Rugeley came out with what can only be called a renewed fire in their stomach’s and took the game right up to Wheaton Aston & Penkridge, this shocking the visitors to the point that their forwards were being walked all over by Rugeley.
After around 10 minutes into the second period Matt Raynolds Rugeley’s affective winger was tackled and received a knee injury resulting in the Paramedic having to attend.
The game continues with Rugeley continuing to apply pressure that the visitors were unable to contain.
Dave Bagnal Rugeley’s number 10 was able to break free and was about to score what was looking like the Rugeley come back try, was tackled right on the try line but hit the ground head first causing what seemed to be a head/neck injury this resulting in the Air Ambulance having to attend.
At this point it was decided the game be abandoned by the Referee at 68th Minute.
The final score was Rugeley 0 – Wheaton Aston & Penkridge 17.
