1. About our club

At Salisbury Hockey Club (SHC), we welcome everyone interested in playing hockey – from high performance competitive play, and across all skills and ages looking to find a welcoming and family-orientated club to enjoy the game.

Focused on performance

SHC participates competitively across the South Central leagues. With our Ladies 1st XI competing in Premier Division I, and a total of ten squads across men’s and women’s ranging in skill throughout the leagues to Forest Divisions I and II, SHC will provide you with stretch and challenge across every level.

Head Coach Jon Royce lends his expertise from an extensive GB and international coaching career to date, providing a focused training structure and approach for our coaches across the club, from junior into senior play.

Focused on inclusivity and accessibility

Hockey for all levels of experience - whether that’s juniors or seniors keen to pick up a stick for the first time, for anyone who’s currently playing at school or with another club, or perhaps if you’re returning to hockey after a few years’ break… You may be looking for more social hockey, or have ambitions to reach the higher levels of play across the club - SHC will support you in achieving those ambitions, whatever they may be.

Open to all abilities: check out details on Salisbury Flyerz and Salisbury Walkers, newly introduced with the 2024-25 season, providing more opportunity for disabled and able-bodied to enjoy hockey together.

SHC aims to support everyone to be able to access sport and to address any inequalities that exist within the game, in line with England Hockey's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Framework - to:

  • reflect society and ensure hockey remains relevant in the 21st century;
  • ensure safe, respectful, inclusive cultures valuing and welcoming everyone;
  • create access for anyone from any background to participate in hockey; and
  • ensure the reputation of hockey is regarded as excellent in its commitment to ED&I

Helping make hockey more affordable to young people: this year, with funding from Salisbury City Council, we have introduced a youth bursary, aiming to make an exciting sport like hockey more accessible to U16s who might otherwise not be able to discover it. Check out the details now.
