The ladies 1’s knew this was going to be a tough season; With four teams coming down from national league into their league, and losing some key players including last season’s top scorer to Bath University. The start of the season was also unsettled due to Aoife Lawrence and Nic George competing in the Masters World Cup, so Salisbury struggled to find their rhythm at times.
What has emerged throughout the first half of the season however, is a committed, hardworking squad, with a chance for some youngsters to step up and shine. Salisbury currently sit 8th in the table, a very respectable position after some strong whole team performances.
The aim for the remainder of season is to continue to build and develop on the strong foundations established and of course stay in this league.

A great season started disappointingly and mirrored the previous season, unable to capitalise on possession and chances they went down 1-0 to Poole despite being the better team. The oldies who worried this would be a repeating pattern needn’t have worried. The good performances continued but goals came from across the team most notably Andy Cowling, Disco Hillier and skipper Max Hamer. Second half of the season will be tough as all teams will be looking to take their scalp.
