Following a lively opening five minutes, that saw the action sway to and fro, the Blues finally took the lead in the 7th minute. Kaylm Rowland took a pass from Jack McGough and tore down the left wing before crossing into the penalty area. Jaxon Lafferty (pictured) met it first time and beat Green's keeper; 1-0.

The Blues doubled their lead a minute later when Jack McGough found Szymon Olechowicz with a long pass. He delivered a lovely cross into the centre and Jaxon grabbed his second of the game to double the lead; 2-0.

Green made their mark on the game in the 10th minute when a beautiful defence-splitting pass found their striker. He ended his well-timed run by shooting under Matthew Pringle's brave dive to peg the score back to 2-1.

The boys from Bishop Auckland kept plugging away and were suitably awarded on 13 minutes. A corner was fired into the Blues penalty area, which their defence failed to clear. A game of goalmouth pinball ended when the ball was poked home at the fourth attempt to make it 2-2.

Green's players appeared buoyed by their equaliser and Seaham's midfielders had to track back to help out in defence. One of the Green's midfielders launched a long-range effort on 15 minutes. It looked bound for the top corner but Matthew Pringle athletically tipped it over the crossbar.

Harry Garrett played a neat 1:2 with Jaxon Lafferty then unleashed a monstrous effort from 30 metres. The ball looked certain to hit the back of the net but Green's keeper pulled off a remarkable save.

In the 18th minute Jaxon Lafferty took a pass from Jack McGough and flew down the left wing before crossing. Roan Burn had positioned himself well but an unfortunate bounce led to his first time shot going just left of goal.

The Blues maintained the tempo of the game to good effect and almost regained the lead on 21 minutes. A lovely cross by Szymon Olechowicz caused chaos in the Green's penalty area and a goalmouth scramble ended in Isaac Ward missing narrowly.

The Blues regained the lead in the dying seconds of the half. Jaxon Lafferty exchanged passes with Harry Garrett and fired home to secure his hat-trick but, more importantly, a half-time lead for the Blues.

The Blues carried their momentum into the second half as Jaxon Lafferty set off on an elusive run down the left flank. After beating a defender he centred for Kaylm Rowland but his first time effort went narrowly past the right post.

The Blues made it 4-2 in the 31st minute when Jaxon Lafferty pounced on a careless back pass and fired under the advancing keeper with his fourth of the game.

Szymon Olechowicz was enjoying himself on the right wing and thwarted the efforts of his much bigger opponent before firing a pass to Jack McGough. He fed Jaxon Lafferty who shot and saw his effort parried by the keeper. However he nailed the rebound to make it 5-2 with 34 minutes played. Kaylm Rowland followed the ball in but the goal was awarded to his team mate.

However, the lively Kaylm Rowland finally saw his efforts rewarded in the 36th minute. He received a crossfield ball from Jack McGough and hared down the right flank before firing under the keeper to make it 6-2.

Byers Green served warning that they were far from dead and buried as they battled back straight from the restart. After a long sequence of possession a 30 metre effort sailed past Matthew Pringle's despairing save but shaved the outside of the left post.

Seaham kept plugging away with Jack McGough dominating the midfield. One of his pinpoint passes released Szymon Olechowicz. He fired a low drive towards the bottom left corner but the keeper dove full length to save well.

As the game entered its final 5 minutes , Ellis Bainbridge exchanged passes with Riley Coyle before releasing Szymon Olechowicz. He fired a blistering effort past the keeper but saw it shave the top of the crossbar.

A fine pass from Harry Garrett on 47 put Ellis Bainbridge through on goal. Number seven looked highly likely but Green's keeper charged out and dove bravely to snatch the ball off his toes.

A trademark Harry Garrett thunderbolt a minute from time was saved and Green launched a quick counter attack. Luckily, Harry Laing was on hand to clear downfield.

Jack McGough released lsaac Ward with a long pass but the Green's keeper thwarted his shot with the final play of an extremely entertaining contest.
