Our first trip to play Durham University, 7 front rowers in the starting line up. What could possibly go wrong.
Durham Uni showed how not working for a living and training 3 times a day can be an advantage. All of their players where the same shape and speed and they all distinctly lacked regional accents. Despite this a Seaton side with an average weight of 19stone still scored 4 powerful tries and completely dominated the set piece. with smiles on faces from the first to the last minute, and some bruising hits. Durham tried their best to let us back into the game when their "Loose head Prop" (Well Aye) was shown a second yellow and sent off for becoming lost in a maul and adopting the foetal position. Man of the Match went to Ben Stockdale, who was conveniently on the phone when the pint was ready to be drunk, instead Owen Close stepped in and did himself proud. We also won the eating after the game. Pie, chips and gravy with a salad option, be sure to ask Joel Hannon his gravy and salad thesis, was consumed with gusto before we set off back to the club to watch England.
