We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Sheffield RUFC player Sue Maroroa Jones.
Sue joined the senior women’s section in 2015 and spent 5 seasons at Sheffield before retiring from rugby to have her first child, Samaria, in June 2020.
Typical of any New Zealander, Sue was passionate about rugby. She was a determined back rower who loved causing a nuisance at the breakdown. As the Development Officer and Captain of the Roses, Sue helped grow the women’s section by being an incredibly welcoming and friendly face to all newcomers. She was never without a smile (and a tin of delicious home baking!) Sue formed lasting friendships with her team mates and will be greatly missed by everyone.
Our thoughts are with Sue’s husband Gawain and two children, Samaria and Daniel, at this incredibly difficult time ?
