New league structure announced

This years Pennine league for the Bears

The Pennine have finally released their new divisional format for the 2015-2016 league, and have now decided to expand on the east west division idea that was used for division 6 & 7 last year, so now we have a division 3 east and west as well which obviously means a complete shake up of what was essentially last years divisions 4 and 5.

the actual format will provisionally be as follows;

Division Three East
Crigglestone All Blacks
Dearne Valley Bulldogs
Farnley Falcons
Halton Moor Storm
Hanging Heaton
Kinsley Raiders
Selby Warriors
Sherburn Bears
Wakefield City
Whinmoor Warriors

So we have Crigglestone, Whinmoor and Kinsley dropping down from the division above, whilst Hanging Heaton and Halton Moor Storm move up, to join existing division 4 sides Wakefield City, Dearne Valley Bulldogs, Farnley Falcons and Selby Warriors.

On the face of it the clear favourites to win the league this year will without doubt be Selby Warriors who having had a big influx of former Nevision and Chequerfield players are definitely the strongest side in the league by quite a large margin.

Clubs vying to be second behind the Warriors will no doubt include a very good Whinmoor side who probably cant believe their luck at being in this league, and also a slowly resurgent Crigglestone with the Wakefield side gradually climbing its way back up the tables. Hanging Heaton will probably be in with a shout for the first three months but they have a habit of dropping of alarmingly after Christmas, something the Bears experienced themselves last season. Dearne Valley will also be in with a shout of the top 2 or 3 with the South Yorks side always good at home and improving away with their big robust side.

On the face of it it looks like the rest of the division will probably be fighting over the places below these sides with Wakefield City, Kinsley, Farnley, Halton Moor and ourselves left to see what we can make of the season and if any of us can force our way into the top half of the table with some of the big boys.

Having said that its amateur rugby league and 2 or 3 players with real talent can make a hell of a difference to sides at this level so anything can and will happen on the day!
