A warm morning down at Stoke lodge saw the U11 Leopards set up for their first ever league game. A new squad with many making their debut for Shire, saw a rocky start against a well organised and seasoned Bantums team. After going behind early, the boys showed some excellent learning on the go, beginning to press the opposition well and showing some good forward motion. Bantums showed some excellent link play, especially from set piece, increasing their lead into half time.

‘A game of two halves’ is often used when describing games, but it was particularly apt today. The Leopards pressed well, showed some excellent attack, but it was pure dogged determination that was on show, I think everyone covered most of the grass today! The huge work rate paid off, with Theo and Oliver scoring our first ever league goals.

It would have been easy for the boys to give up today, but they showed excellent Colts spirit and really dug in. We were extremely proud of them as they should be of themselves. Onto our first away game next week with lots to work on, but also with a buzz of excitement around moving forward and learning! Go Shire!
