Shire Colts U16s head into the final month of the 2023-24 season with 3 league matches to play, and just one point off the league leaders Stoke Lane who have already completed their fixtures. Our remaining games are all against teams in the lower half of the table, so there is an air of cautious confidence around the squad.

However, the job is far from done. Portishead Town Sparks lie just 3 points behind us with a game in hand, so it could be a very tight finish. Indeed, Portishead should not be underestimated as we learned in February when they beat us 3-5 at home! Let's hope that defeat does not turn out to be the decisive moment of our season!

The ongoing group stage of the cup is also tight and inconclusive. Our group is poised with one match remaining for each team, but with no individual team dominating. Our last group match is scheduled for Thursday 18th, against Portishead no less, with the final potentially taking place just 2 days later!

It's been a truly enjoyable season so far for the U16s, with more wins, more clean sheets, and a greater variety of goalscorers than any other recent season for this squad.

All we have to do now is forget about our rivals, and focus on winning our remaining matches, starting with getting a result at Hutton this Saturday.
