After a brief midweek break to attend to cup matters, it’s a return to the serious business of league affairs for Shirebrook Town this Saturday when Hall Road Rangers from the north of the Humber are the visitors to Langwith Road.
And Shirebrook manager Kevin Gee will be keen to see his side return to winning ways after their thirteen game unbeaten run was ended by disappointing back-to-back defeats against Pontefract Collieries (0-3) – away in the league last Saturday afternoon, and North West Counties Premier Division side Glossop North End (1-3) – at home in the Quarter Finals of the Derbyshire Senior Challenge Cup on Tuesday evening.
But Rangers will no doubt have other ideas and their manager, Andy Foster, will be just as keen to get something from tomorrow’s game after they also lost both of their last outings – away to Pontefract (0-3) on the first Saturday of the New Year and then at home to Clipstone (3-5) seven days later, despite leading 3-0 until 59 minutes had gone in that game.
It’s relegated Rangers’ first season back in NCEL Division One after five seasons in the Premier Division and they have taken 36 points from the 27 league games they’ve played so far; currently occupying twelfth place in the table, five places and eleven points behind Shirebrook from the same number of games.
The two sides have already met this campaign, Shirebrook running out convincing 4-1 winners in the reverse fixture midweek in late August at the John Moore Security Stadium, Dene Park, Dunswell.
Kick-off at Langwith Road tomorrow is at 3 o’clock.
