Another glorious English summer evening. Another chance for some stick and ball.
We were, not to jinx it, all fashionably on time for a 19:15 push back…or was it 19:30?? The screenshots will be provided as evidence in court.

Set for a tough game we showed up for Telford with our cheerleaders in full force. Not letting the oppo get to our heads, we stayed cool, calm and collected with youth on our side. Telford pressed hard with some good movement and trio work. We put in a shift and held them off with Emily making some cracking saves, keeping us clean for a while. Rach did some storming up the line working with Annie seeing us nearly into the D only to get knocked back. Telford got 2 goals, one which was fair enough, the other due to some miscommunication on our end and watching the player saunter into the D. Some choppy tackles, a bit of chat and a few questionable choices took us to half time.

Telford came out hard going into the second half, and we matched that as best we could. Jess pretty much became goalie 2.0 saving some wild balls in the air on the line and driving Telford back out of the danger zone. Despite our best efforts, including a prime opportunity for Tilly to grab herself a goal uncontested, Tess working the ball from midfield up to the goal and an excellent deflection unfortunately missed by Eleni, Telford nabbed a further 5 goals bringing the final whistle to 7-0. The score absolutely does not reflect the play and we put in a fight against a team 4 leagues above us. Our aim for the game was work rate and that was well and truly achieved.
