A solid win away from home

Sidlesham made the long treck to Crowborough on Saturday looking to add to their recent good turn of results, facing a tough Jarvis Brook side who they always have a competitive games against.

Sidlesham went into the game knowing a defeat wouldn't help their push towards the top half of the table but with Brook themselves looking to push on it was certainly going be a good game and it didn't disappoint.

As early as the 5th minute Harry Gregory burst through after being put away by Dan Bassil produced a good save from the home keeper. With the away side settling better they tried to work their way up the slope pushing the home side onto the back foot. Next Dan Bassil went close after turning his marker and firing just wide. Callum Dowdell gave the away side the lead shortly after with a good strike after running onto a Bassil header who was found by a Connor Kelly goal kick.

Brook did have a couple of half chances but more often than not they over hit their pass in the final 3rd with the ball running off down the slope on more than one occasion. Gregory went close after a good cross from Dale Hayes and then Liam Bush tried his luck from distance. With both wingers for Sidlesham having fine games the defence of Brook had to stand strong, although looking dangerous on the break Sidleshams defence held firm going in at the break 1-0 up.

Second half began as the first half ended with Brook looking very dangerous going forward but with the way Sidelsham were playing they weren't in any mood to give anything away. Sidlesham got their second when a superb pass from Bush found Ryan Hillier and he controlled in one touch and dispatched it into the corner with his second. Brook then threw everything at the away side with every corner, free kick being dispatched into the box with them looking to get back into the game.

Good defending and steady goalkeeping from Connor kelly in the away goal saw the away side deal with most of these. Bush then broke and went clean through for Sidlesham but the keeper again produced a fine save as he did when after Dowdell crossed and his own defender almost knock it past him for a own goal. Although Brook did get one back the away side didn't panic and Bassil completed the afternoons work firing home after a good break and pass from Joe Bennett.

A good team performance all round from the away side sees us take home all 3 points and sets them up for nexts Saturday's home game against Cowfold 2pm ko at the War Memorial Recreation Ground Sidlesham.
