Pre-Season Review

HSFC Webmaster8 Aug 2011 - 19:08

Sileby are making steady progress with a string of strong performances.

After holding on to the bulk of the first team squad from last year, Town will be looking to improve on last season's 12th place finish. The only exit has been the surprise departure of midfielder Leo Coggan who has opted to join Sileby Saints in the Senior League Division 1. Apart from this, almost all of last season's squad have now put pen to paper and the young side look an organised unit coming in to the new campaign.

Martin Hamner has come back into the first team, and his experience and quality has shown in the friendlies. Also adding strength to the squad is young full back James Baines who has impressed. Add to that the return of Phil Lowe upfront, the growth of the younger players from last year and the retention of players such as Boulter, Bettles and Jeff Bunn and the future is now looking bright for Sileby.

Good results against Keyworth and Skegness Town, coupled with great performances against strong outfits such as Clifton and Anstey Nomads has demonstrated the strength and togetherness of the squad and Town will be looking to take that form into the opening league fixture at Highfields.
