South Craven School kitted out after All Schools work with Skipton RFC

Ashley Greaves3 Feb 2014 - 10:14

After several months of support from the club, South Craven benefitted from the All Schools programme with a new kit for their Key Stage 3 students.

As part of the RFU All Schools programe, which was established to help increase participation of the sport, Skipton RFC have been supporting South Craven school since September with rugby delivery to both their male and female students.

The support has enables the school to start a brand new girls rugby section which has seen more than 20 girls take part every week, including 2 very enthusiastic young leaders too.

Speaking of the support, Skiptons Rugby Development officer Ash Greaves added "It has been a fantastic programme to support, we have seen some real development at the school in term of more people playing the sport, and in addition we are seeing more students participating at local clubs including Skipton too".

After receiving the brand new kit, head of PE Mr Hughes was very greatful of the support from the programme. "Its been great to have this much support, its enabled us as a school to offer more opportunities and provide more coaches to not only help the students, but assist in the development and learning of our staff members too. The programme has even inspired non-PE staff at the school to get involved and help with the sessions which helps to demonstrate the interest and potential that the school have got to push rugby on even further".

While it is still only early days for the development of the sport in the school, both Greaves and Mr Hughes agree that the rugby is looking healthy at the school and big things are potentially lurking around the corner in terms of what may still be to come.

The club wish to thank both the RFU and the school for their ongoing support, and look forward to supporting both in the future.
