Slough Rugby Club’s Youth section gathered to celebrate the achievements of its members at an awards ceremony on Sunday.

Presiding over the event was Youth Chairman Paula Hammond and Club President Ray Gagnon.

All players were presented with a memento award. A Player of the Season award for each age group followed before the annual section wide trophies.

The John Spandley Award for Perseverance went to U10s player Julien Janot while Zachary Norton from the U8s won the Junior Player of the Year title and U7s player Aaqib Faiz picked up the Mick Curley Fair Play Award.

Volunteers’ efforts also received recognition at the ceremony with U8s coach James Quincey named as Coach of the Year. Andrew Leighton-Pope was presented with the Neville Cup, Donna Austin the Vase and Maddison Austin the Colin Williams Cup for efforts above and beyond.

Coaches, clubhouse volunteers and Saturday ball boys also received a thank you gift each.

Youth Chairman Paula Hammond said ‘On Sunday with the help of Club President Ray Gagnon, I presented the awards to the Youth Section for my first time as Chair. I was pleased to see so many of our players and parents attend the event.
I am very proud of the players, coaches, parents and volunteers who turn up every Sunday to support the club. Watching the players develop their skills and demonstrate the core values of Rugby (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship) is always a pleasure.
