Great away performance for SEUS FC.

A cracking performance saw us come away with the 3 points after a 4-1 win over a decent Rum Rooms team. The win keeps us firmly in the mix in 4th a point behind 3rd place Dunscroft United, but with a game in hand and 5 points above 5th place Rums Room.
We started brightly and were 1-0 after 10 mins, with nothing on in the box Mark Lynch had the vision to deceive the keeper and find the net from an acute angle 25 yards out. Legacy responded shortly after to reduce the arrears after a huge deflection of Liam Womersley found the bottom left corner.

This led to a shaky 10 minutes, where we were trying to force things which led to a few mistakes and handing the possession to Legacy to easily. When we got back on our game and started to get the ball into the attacker’s feet we started to dominate. The lead came through a composed 18-yard finish from Jay Hewitt after an intelligent cut back from Lynch. After 30 mins, we were 3-1 up after great move involving Lynch, Hewitt & Az Corley led to Mark Mcdermott firing in from 6 yards.

The 3 attackers were causing the Legacy defence all sorts of problems and when Hewitt managed to get away from the last defender he was brought down in the box. Liam Womersley extended the lead with a cool top corner finish from 12 yards.
The Solders deservedly went into half time 4-1, it was the best half of football we had played since we beat Dunscroft United in the 2nd game of the season.

The second half was not as spectacular as the first, Rums Room had got their act together and the Soldiers knew the work was done. It was an even half. Jacob Peacock had to make some decent saves and we were unlucky not to extend our lead through Lance Walsh & Hewitt who were both thwarted by the Leagcy keeper. Womersley did put the ball in the net late on but it was deemed offside.

There were plenty of positives to take out of the game so let’s hope we take this into our next game against Dunscroft on 3rd Decemeber.
