Loss to Bentley Heath followed by rained off match at Potten End

The 1s faced Bentley Heath at home on 8th June, looking for a win to push up the table and bolstered by the return of opening bat Thomas Lethbridge.

Captain Flint won the toss and, with his top order options looking strong, opted to bat. The returning Thomas looked like he'd never been away, following up his half century from his only innings last season with some nice early shots as he got into his work. Unfortunately, at the other ends wickets fell at regular intervals with only Thomas Flint (10) and Callum McCarney (17) reaching double figures in support.

Thomas reached his 50, continuing his fine form but was eventually the last man out for 64 - leaving Adelaide looking short with only 109 on the board. Bentley Heath did struggle somewhat at the beginning of their reply, Raja Abrar taking 3 of the top order on his way to commendable figures of 3-37 including the dangerous opener for 35. Finian Gibson also picked one up to give the Adders some vital bowling points, but the 5 and 6 played aggressively to take Bentley Heath close to target. Ryan Hammond came on to bowl, getting a wicket maiden with his only over, but then Hugh Donnelly's first over was laid into for 14 off just 4 balls to end the game. 5 points earned in a disappointing contest.

The week after, a trip to Potten End was curtailed by 11:30 after overnight rain - with only one of the home team even bothering to appear to let our travelling 1st XI know the game was off. Still, 10 points in the bag for the short motorway trip.
