Match feedback from South Normanton U16s:
Today, we welcomed Wirksworth for our final game of the season. The pitch had been rolled, thanks to Bolsover District Council. Wirksworth are vying for the title, so we knew it would be tough & they didn't disappoint.
Both teams competed well with some keenly contested battles all over the pitch. Wirksworth took the lead following a corner and the ball falling kindly to the Wirksworth player on the edge of the box, who struck the ball well, into the corner.
We spoke about resilience prior to the kick-off, and we got back into the game soon afterwards with a fantastic strike from long-range by Kai.
1:1 at half time, and we knew we were back in the game and felt able to push on for the win.
However, an unfortunate incident left our goalkeeper, Harry, with what looks to be a serious ankle injury. Fingers crossed that it won't be as bad as first thought; such a shame, as Harry had an amazing first half.
Que Henry Dunker, who kindly agreed to go in goal for the rest of the game, and it must be said, he definitely looked the part making some great saves and catches.
The rest of the game was keenly fought with several chances from both teams, but it was Wirksworth who grabbed the winner close to the end and despite a spirited battled for the equaliser, it just wasn't to be.
SNAFC 1: 2 Wirksworth
