South Shields travelled away to the other side of the Tyne to Face Shields Rivals North Shields. After South Shields claimed victory earlier in the season North Shields were out for revenge. However South Shields started quickly with Taylor Burn bursting through the opposition line from full back to score a beautiful solo try two minutes into the game with Fly Half Ryan Dowens converting the kick to make it 7-0 to South Shields. However Thirty minutes into the match play had to stop as a North Shields player went down with a serious injury. After a Five minute stoppage play restarted and just seven short minutes later South Shields scored again this time Vice Captain Gerard Miller scoring after a long build up involving some strong tackles. Unfortunately on this occasion Ryan could not convert leaving the score at 12-0 The rest of the first half was back and forth between the two teams with South Shields making some try saving tackles inside their own twenty two. The second half started and it was North Shields who looked more up for it as it only took them Three minutes to score a try making it 12-5 after they missed the conversion. North Shields kept their new found momentum going as they scored another try minutes later to bring the scores to 12-10 however to the South Shields players delight North Shields missed the conversion meaning they kept a narrow lead. The weather conditions meant the game went back and forth in the middle of the park, however South Shields managed to build momentum getting the ball along the line where Jonny Cooper capped off an excellent team move by scoring he first try for South Shields. Ryan Dowens converted again making the score a little more comfortable at 19-10. As the minutes ticked by in the second half neither team could really dominate as both sides put in strong tackles. It was until the last ten minutes of the game when Jonny Cooper popped up again to score his Second try of the game and for the club and then Ryan Dowens converting yet again for South Shields to make it 26-10 to the team for South of the Tyne. Spurred on by a second wind South Shields stayed on the attack making the most of some tired legs in the North Shields defense Lee Dixon used his power and pace to run through and score South Shields Fifth try of the game. Ryan Dowens scored his Third conversion in Four attempts to make it 33-10 to South Shields. After the try South Shields pushed for another one, however this proved to go against them as in the final minute of the game North Shields scored and with the final kick of the game the conversion was missed leaving South Shields victorious in The Shields Derby with a final score of 33-15.
