Cheltenham Saracens U9 v Southside Lions U9

Today’s fixture was a short trip away to Saracens.
Lions started brightly in the first 5 minutes. Zach slotted the ball through nicely for Jude who finished well, burying the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net. 1-0 Lions.

Lions unfortunately couldn’t hang onto the lead for long. Before we knew it, Saracens had capitalised on some defensive errors and Lions trailed 3-1 inside 20 minutes.

However, in typical Lions fashion, the whole team improved as the game went on. Ted, Tobias and Konstantin worked hard firming up the defence and Oscar worked hard both on and off the ball.

Lions hard work was rewarded when Jude played a good ball through to Max Moore who converted at close range. 2-3!

Ralph made some outstanding saves to keep Lions in the match. Tipping two great shots from the Saracens strikers around the post.

Max Moore had a string of shots on target before the half time whistle. Unlucky Max!

Both teams battled hard in the second half but chances were few and far between at both ends. Saracens grabbed a late goal despite some great saves from Ralph beforehand.
Full time 2-4

A great game to watch. Well done to all players. We scored an extra goal and conceded 4 less goals than in our last game! Superb improvement! Disappointing result but we win, lose and draw together. We will keep working hard to get that first league win!

Man of the match went to Zach for his hard work in midfield and an assist.
