Just the 3 teams on display this week, which meant that all our teams were rather overloaded with players! See below for managers’ match reports …

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oliver Workman was managing the Lions, with a team consisting of son Ben, Monty C, Dennis, Freddie, Monty C-J, Jesse, Ezra C, Jacob and Monty H. Thanks to Oliver for this report:

--

Game 1 Vs Prestbury Yellows (9.45am)
Score – 4-0
Goals – Monty C-J, Jesse, Dennis, Ezra
-
Game 2 Vs Lakeside Whites (10.10am)
Score – 1-1
Goals – Ezra
-
Game 3 Vs Lakeside Reds (10.35am)
Score – 3-3
Goals – Jesse x 2, Ezra
-
Player of the Day – Ezra
--
Brilliant effort from all the boys today, with the whole outfield swapping at half-time due to the large number of Cubs available.
-
In the first match, a dominant performance from the Lions, with goals from Monty C-J, Jesse, Dennis and Ezra. The whole team were pressing high up the pitch, with excellent results.
-
The second match against Lakeside Whites was a much closer affair, with the Lions taking the lead shortly after half-time through Ezra. Tough tackling from Monty H and Ben helped keep the opposition at bay, with a last second equaliser from Lakeside just before the final whistle.
-
The last match was the most eventful, with the Lions again taking the lead through Jesse after a he ran the whole length of the pitch, passing most opposition players, before finishing with an excellent strike. After falling behind, the Lions rallied with excellent teamwork between Ezra and Jesse culminating in an equaliser (2-2).

After half-time, the match remained in the balance with Dennis saving a whole host of shots to deny the Lakeside Reds team. Eventually, Lakeside took the lead, however in the last few moments of the match, an excellent team move ended-up with a free-kick to the Lions on the edge of the penalty area, which was taken and scored by Ezra. A fair result 3-3.

For the Tigers, it was Dalibor Kortis pulling the strings. His team consisted of son Dominic, Millan, Harry, Lucas E, Luca, Josh, Ezra R, Caleb and Teddy. Thanks to Dalibor for his report below:

--

Game 1 vs Prestbury Phantoms Reds 0-0
Game 2 vs Bishops Cleeve Colts 4-0 (Harry (3), Lucas)
Game 3 vs Churchdown Panthers Blacks 5-2 (Harry (2), Lucas (2), Ezra)
-
Player of the Day: Harry Edwards

--

During the first game, there were chances on both sides, great tackling from both teams and great goalie saves. It ended up as draw and no goals. Great game overall and good warm-up for the Game 2.

--

In the second game, we overslept at the beginning and were soon losing 2:0 after two quick goals. But the Tigers were very determined to turn this around. Harry took responsibility and managed to score two nice goals in just two minutes.

After these two goals, the Tigers became more confident and put a lot of pressure on the opposition. We kept pushing and managed to score one more goal by Lucas, then Harry scored his 3rd goal of the game to complete his hat trick.

At the end of game, Teddy had a great chance to score one more goal, but unluckily he missed by centimetres.

--

In the third game, the Tigers were dominating from the beginning. Consequently, Harry and Lucas scored two early goals.

Then there was a goal for Panthers, after a misunderstanding in our defence, but we soon managed to score another goal, when the Tigers had a corner, with all the players in the box and Ezra was the first one to shoot through the wall of players.

Panthers did not give up and scored a fortunate goal, but we finished the game with two more goals by Harry and Lucas.

Well done to all Tigers players.

For the Wildcats, Ben Corrigan was in charge. Thanks to him for this report:

--

A mixed day for the Wildcats, who played against some strong teams in Whittington Park, FC Lakeside Blues and Bishops Cleeve Rovers. The Wildcats were Abe, Brodie, Harvey, Jack, James, Leo, Mason, Ralphy, Theo and Wilf.

-

Up against the home team (Whittington Park) in the first game, the game started brightly, with two evenly matched teams. Wilf led the first-half attacks, with Mason not giving an inch in defence and Leo making some great saves in goal.

Unlucky to be down at half-time, the Wildcats went on to dominate the second-half, with Ralphy netting a well taken equaliser, after a run down the touchline by Jack. Harley in goal made some late saves, with the Wildcats pushing for a winner when the ref called a very quick second-half to an end. Final score 1-1.

--

The second game was against FC Lakeside Blues. A high quality first-half ended at 0-0, Brodie making some key tackles on the right wing, Harley impassable in defence, Theo going close and looking dangerous on the counter-attack and Jack keeping a first-half clean sheet with some key saves.

After changes in the second-half on both teams, a few quick goals against took the game away from the Wildcats. The boys fought to the end, with Abe, Leo and James' energy in the middle of the park first class. A final score of 0-5 not reflective of the overall game and the teams.

--

The final game was against Bishops Cleeve Rovers and truly was a game of two halves. A few early goals against were not reflective of the overall first half. Mason stepped out of defence with some key dribbles down the right flank and James caused problems for the Bishops Cleeve defence throughout.

Despite being down 0-5 at half-time, the Wildcats didn’t give up and gave everything in the second-half. From the start, the Wildcats were finding success with their passing game, with Wilf finding his teammates throughout.

Led superbly by Ralphy with a hat-trick and a well-taken breakaway goal from Theo, the score was 4-5 with the Wildcats pushing for a late (and well deserved) equaliser. With such a push on attack, there were chances for Bishops Cleeve, with Abe making one of the saves of the day to keep the ball out. Like with the first game, time proved to be the enemy and despite their best efforts, an equaliser couldn't be found. Final score an entertaining 4-5.

--

A mixed day all in all for the Wildcats. Some great performances in patches, with some of the scorelines not always reflective of the matches, or the differences in the teams. Player of the Day went to Ralphy, for his goals and general drive and attitude which was first class all morning.

As always, an exciting morning of football for our U7 Cubs. Big thanks to all our team managers for running the teams and to our parents for your support.

Next up is another round-robin in 2 weeks’ time on 30th November.
