Squires Gate welcomes Cammell Laird 1907 to the Premier Division. Promoted from the first division in second place, the Liverpool side were hot on the tail of Atherton Collieries.

Cammell Laird were unlucky to finish second behind Atherton Collieries having been in the chasing pack all season. Lairds finished on 89 points, winning twenty eight, drawing five and loosing just three of the 36 league games.

Laird's season was shuck in early October when manager Tony Sullivan resigned to take up the role of manager at Witton Albion in the Northern Premier League. His assistant manager Paul McNally took the role and was able to maintain the good start to the season and secure promotion for the club.

The key man for Lairds amongst many this season will be Craig Cairns. The attacker contributed to many of the 114 goals that Lairds scored last season. The explosive striker will test many a defence this coming season a will once again be a key player in any success Lairds will have.
