Hertfordshire SuperVets maiden victory sees the Blue & Gold play a big part

Andy Harris17 Mar - 17:18

Herts SuperVets took on their counterparts from Suffolk and came up trumps in their first adventure.

Hertfordshire SuperVets ran out 44-19 victors against their Suffolk counterparts.
Captained by Mick O'Shea, St Albans RFC were represented by Mark Prangnell, Harry Toland, Iain McIlwee and Scott Mineikis - who scored the first SuperVets try, bagged another and received a yellow card for "showing off" (Referee's words!). Rugby Union has taken a Massive Social Step Forward.

Thank you to all 13 Clubs represented today, the HertsRFU Committee, and Tim Bonnett for their immense support. Thank you to Mark Watmough and his Suffolk SuperVets who are on the same wavelength. Social, Age Appropriate, Rugby Union creates a level playing field and tells each player “you still matter.”

St Albans, Verulamians, OAs, Harpenden, HQEII, The Mount, Welwyn, Berkhamsted, Bishop’s Stortford, Dunstablians, Millhill, Camelot and Fullerians were all on display. Tony Leake from the Hertfordshire Referee’s Society had a big impact on how the game went and how enjoyable it was.

Thank you to Steve Dunkley and Bishop’s Stortford RFC for looking after us so well and Holly Conway from Harpenden RFC for physio duties.

Hertfordshire tries came from Scott Mineikis (St Albans/Dunstablians) who got 2, Kevin Sheppard (Verulamians), a hat-trick for Nick Kane (Bishop’s Stortford), Nick Robeson (Harpenden) and Chetan Sharma (Bishops Stortford). Conversions came from: Adam Garland (Berkhamsted), Nick Kane.
