St Albans Minis go "full kit" with a competition win!

Andy Harris24 Mar - 20:28

Howdens, a local insurance broker, kit the minis after a local boy won a nationwide competition with The British & Irish Lions.

Eight-year-old Fionn Toolan’s design was chosen from all entries into the competition run by Howden Insurance, a Principal Partner of The British & Irish Lions. His prize was to see his jersey design brought to life, plus 40 kits for his local team.

Fionn plays for St Albans RFC U8 Minis Team, where Howden St Albans is a proud sponsor of the Mens’ First Team. The Howden team joined the morning training session to present the Minis with their new jerseys, shorts, and socks. Fionn said: “I like the new kits; they look great and I’m going to take the jersey I designed to school assembly to show everyone. I like the Lions because it means I can support Ireland for Mummy and England for Daddy at the same time!”

Fionn’s winning design captured the spirit and excitement of The British & Irish Lions and was selected from entries across Howden’s 108 high street branches.

Eric Juster, Branch Manager at Howden St Albans, said: “We were thrilled for Fionn and the Minis teams. To have the winner chosen from our community is really exciting, as we’re proud to support the St Albans rugby club and celebrate the sport we all love.

“Presenting Fionn and the team their new kits was a real honour, and we can’t wait to see them out on the field putting them to good use. Across Howden we’re committed to helping rugby thrive in the communities we serve. It’s through competitions and initiatives like this that we can inspire the next generation of rugby fans!”
